THE BEGINNING
Every great thing must have a humble beginning.
The vision and the call started along time when Rev Elisha Ochieng Atieno gave his life to Christ in 1993. Elisha came to realized that the lord had bestowed upon him a special gift while in high school in 1996. At this time Rev Elisha was involved in organizing Christian Union weekend rallies in various high schools and later involved in coordinating Pastors fellowships Seminars and Conference actively from 2005 to 2015. These activities prepared Rev. Elisha for the ministry ahead. His passion as a minister was to empower the indigenous Pastors who had the calling but were not privilege to be in a seminary for training.
He realized that those formal trainings equally took the minister of the church for years, were expensive, we limited or in far cities and also kept them away from their families and of the responsibilities.
Elisha evolved a heart to be involved with these disadvantaged ministers who had a passion to be trained in basic biblical facts, to enable them be effective in their respective areas of functions in the Ministry. He tried out the free seminar style but Rev. Elisha realized that seminar was not enough adventure where a minister could be trained and He prayed for a vision and provision for a school.
The School was launched with first intake in Dec 2013 and started the training actively in 2014 to date. We are happy to report to our 7th Graduation took place August 2023 with 50 Grandaunts.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Our vision is to inspire churches and communities to imagine, discover, and create God's loving and just world; and that means both men and women call to positions of service in the church. At the same time, we recognize that the role of women and the status of the leadership and ordination of women is a point of disagreement in many denominations, churches, Christian organizations, and among some of our students. We are dedicated to being a community that upholds academic freedom and the free discussion of ideas inside and outside the classroom when done in the spirit of faith seeking understanding.
Nyakach Faith Bible Institute and Development Studies is committed to the admission and education of students without discrimination on the basis of sex. Throughout Scripture, we see God calling and appointing women to teach, preach, and lead God’s people. We uphold the biblical witness as we prepare women and men to lead the church in mission. As a faculty, we also want to declare clearly our unwavering and unanimous commitment to the education and ordination of women for all forms of ministry to which they have been called by God—whether inside or outside the church—including the Ministry of Word and Sacrament.
